I had to drag myself to Philippos supermarket today to stock up on essentials eg milk, butter, dog food, more dog food and wine..... got quite a shock going back into "normality". Tony and I have been holed up at home in Peyia for the past few days and, other than friends coming to eat with us, we've not seen a soul or undertaken any of our normal routine - its been lovely!
Still, things run out and jobs have to be done: we've guests in villas in Peyia and in Coral Bay, so I needed to call to see how they were and get some welcome packs ready for todays arrivals. Quite pleasant jobs to do: I think I've just chilled out so much, I'm too relaxed, if there is such a state of mind!
Anyway, Peyia is as it normally is: warm, friendly and locals going about their normal business in their quiet way. I felt like an intruder stepping into someone elses world and rushed home to snuggle back on my chair with my book.
Then I looked up and the view of the village of Peyia, the majestic coastline of Paphos to Sea Caves and the rolling hills, just took my breath away.
Real life? Yes, this is it in Peyia for us - and we thank our lucky stars that it is.
Wishing you all a very peaceful, real and happy Christmas week as we each share the end of 09 and prepare for the new adventure in 2010!
