Oh dear, the call has come to go and register for Year 2 Greek lessons and I'm dithering about whether to register or not.
I want to: the first year was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the course, despite it being hard as anything. Thing is, I think I've forgotten all I learnt and will feel a complete banana (nbanama, I think in Greek) not being able to keep up!
I MEANT to do homework during the summer but we've had so many arrivals in holiday villas in Coral Bay and Peyia, that I didn't get around to it. Most of my peer group are retired and will have enjoyed lazy days in the sun, reading up on the interesting upside down alphabet and perfecting the practise of speaking the language.
On a day to day basis, dealing mainly with holiday makers from the UK, my English is used more regularly than my Greek - which is a very good thing, given the limited Greek!
Mmmmm. Will have to think very carefully about this - to sign up and feel an idiot or to not sign up and also feel like a coward for not trying.......Panayia!
