Cyprus is a very laid back island. Nothing gets done quickly. Some things don't ever get done - and those that do, often don't get done properly. So, if you are a person who suffers with stress when eg deadlines aren't met or promises kept, probably best not to be here for a while!....

7 years on, Tony and I are getting too used to the set up. Things don't get done to deadline, which is very frustrating when you run a business here - but we're starting to understand who to talk to when and about what, to help our business move forward.

This week, we've met some really nice English people who want to move here. They came to the office with a list of questions and needs and got a little frustrated when we explained how the system works and what happens when eg you want a plumber. They were not very pleased and argued that things should be done when needed. They've a point but we've discovered that the world doesn't end if a plumber is late; a deadline being missed normally doesn't cause any major problem and a smile and kind word from a supplier is much more important than them respecting a timescale- within reason of course.

In my past life, I tried to control everything. In typical female virgo fashion, I was paranoid about losing touch with "stuff" which needs to be done.........now, I'm chilled out, happy, nothing has gone horribly wrong when things are out of my control - and I've realised everything is out of anyones control really.
Its a beautiful day. We're alive to share it and enjoy it and the sun is in the sky. The flights will be delayed today, bringing arrivals to villas in Peyia and Coral Bay , so we'll work through the night......but the guests will love the villas, we'll love the guests and we've got good work to do. Problems? Ochi Problema!
