Its another bank holiday weekend here in Cyprus. Monday is the festival of Kataklysmos, when the Cypriots will gather to celebrate the element of water - and will do this by going in their droves to the sea front and throwing water around.
Its a great idea! Although we are working , meeting holidaymakers who'll arrive in our lovely villas in Peyia and Coral Bay, we'll have time to splash out a bit, I hope=- and I'm particularly keen to soak Tony - and Jake, our big daft puppy coz he enjoys the game!
Today, Friday, the whole of our village of Peyia feels like it has gone to sleep in preparation for the day off. The whole weekend will be a celebration and our hill will smell like a living bacon sandwich as people BBQ and gather together in their families, to celebrate just being alive.
We've a very busy weekend with arrivals and departures but its a great pleasure to have this work to do. From saying hello, to saying goodbye, it gives such a great boost to be able to share/have shared, our lovely, totally crazy village with more and more people from the UK and rest of Europe.
More and more Russians are coming - so we're planning to learn the language: as I'm Geordie and speak "flattened English" and Tonys teesside tones are unrefined, this should be fun!
Happy Bank Holiday!
