The Hills are Alive!

Lynn - 23/05/2009

Late last night, Therese (our 18year old god daughter), Kathryn, her friend and I sat outside in the garden of our home on the hill in Peyia and kept warm by the chiminea.

It was a lovely night: as midnight came, the air was still and filled with promise of another sunny day today. We were all very thoughtful and quiet, fascinated by the life around us....

Jake, Alfie and Molly were asleep in the heat of the fire and Charle Cat had gone to bed. The lizards were slowly chasing about but ready to settle for the night but the spiders (some very large) and snails were gathering in abundance.

Listening carefully, we could hear movement in the bushes on the hill which may have been a snake or a lizard but something was meandering along doing its thing.

Spiders were weaving webs on the shrubs in our garden and all was well - until two very large carob rats decided to come to share the late night warmth and appeared over the top of our gate and frightened up all as much as we frightened them! They scurried to off - and we decided it was time for bed!!
