Electricity is ON!

Lynn - 15/01/2012

Today, the EAC (our electricity company) had advised some of us (?) that there wouldn't be any electricity in the area of Paphos, Peyia, Chloraka, Latchi, Polis and the surrounding villages, from 5am to 17.30. The reason was for essential repair to the system which was damaged after the explosion in July last year.

Sensibly, due to overnight storms and threat of huge rainstorm today, the power is still on - or thats what we believe to be the reason anyway.

In a nutshell, we don't know for sure: the only thing we know is that we can boil the kettle, are planning to make a Sunday roast with Yorkshire Puddings - and that Peyia has power today!

It will probably go off tomorrow when we really need it! Who knows! We'll just have to wait and see. We don't really get the info easily but its totally understandable that the work needs to be done.

This island isn't as big as the city of Leeds in terms of population. Whilst it feels massive that the electricity cut was spread so far, it actually would only have been a few streets in terms of numbers of people!

Anyway, all is well and kettle is on - again!
