Since living in Peyia, we've met some lovely people, none moreso that Reilibeth, a wonderful Phillipino lady who helps us with the villas and apartments.
Beth is a mum of 4 and has worked here in Peyia for 8 years, trying to send as much money as she can , home to her family for their education.
She is an inspiration. Always smiling, always working and always ready to help, she shares with us stories of her life in her home country - and her love of the land. What Beth doesnt' know about plants, their healing properties and their preferred partner plants, isn't worth knowing.
Walking down the steps of our villa today, we had to duck to get under the wayward branch of our pepper tree. Beth told me it wasn't a pepper tree: it was an Iple Iple tree - and in the Phillipines, its used to build houses as its so strong. She suggested that Tony use the branches to fix the shed, which is falling apart- or that he let her fix it!
I wouldn't be surprised if we can home to find Beth had not only undertaken the repair but also completely rebuilt the shed!!
Its amazing what you learn when you listen to somebody elses experiences. I love it!
