When Peyia has the power.....

The recent tragedy at the power station in Limassol, is still very fresh in the hearts and minds of the community here.
The side effects are simple in our eyes: people lost loved ones; we've lost a little bit of daily electricity..........really no comparison.

Some of the tourists see it very differently. I've been talking to a few of the shopkeepers in the village today and we've exchanged stories from this past week.....eg we've been asked:
"We have a power cut: and why doesn't the aircon work?"
"The internet isn't working". "We have a power cut", we explain. "Yes, we know that but the internet isn't working".......
Dylan, in Partymania card shop, was asked to "Turn the heat down in the shop". "I cannot", he said, "There is no electricity at the moment", so the man promptly picked up new cards which he wasn't going to buy, and began to fan himself with them.....

"The lights aren't working in the pool". "No,there is a power cut". "Yes, but thats in the house. The pool lights are in the water"...........

No wonder we all drink - albeit warm beers now!
