Easter is coming!

Its so exciting in the village of Peyia the moment. The sun is shining, the streets getting more and more busy with tourists and the decorations for Easter are being put in place.

I nearly crashed the car yesterday as I drove up the hill, when just as I was passing the Square outside the Municipality offices, a larger then life statue of Jesus was hoisted out of giant daisies! It happened so quickly and the whole thing is so colourful, I honestly forgot I was driving and had to check myself for a moment.

Actually, I couldn't stop laughing. Not at the statue per se but at the whole fuss which was going on around it and its colourful daisies. This morning, I expected a throng of locals sitting on the grass, honouring it as I passed. Even the horrible village clock pales into insignifigance against the new Easter arrivals.
