Spring begins!

The hillside around our villa in Peyia, is filled with tall pink wedding weeds, which are blowing in the gentle warm breeze we have woken up to. It looks beautiful!
Spring is definitely in the air here: the almond blossom is out, the grass, very green and poppies are beginning to peep through the verges. Its a very pretty time of year.
Tomorrow is Green Monday, start of Lent, so Cypriot families were fervently shopping yesterday, getting picnics ready for tomorrow when the tradition is to head to the coast with their loved ones - and fly kites! Great to watch!
In the villages, the older Cypriots were setting tables in their gardens yesterday as I walked back from the weekly shop - so there will be parties from today till late tomorrow.
I cannot wait for later today: there is an older Cypriot gentleman who lives on the hill in front of us and he loves to sing! Give him a whisky or three and we'll be serenaded into the early hours!
Have a lovely Sunday, whatever you are doing - but think about spending a few in a villa in Peyia! Is more than worth it!
