Peyia Cyprus

Peyia days

Lynn - 04/08/2010

August is a wonderful time of year here in Peyia. Many cypriot families return to Peyia for a holiday, meeting us with their relatives and enjoying the slow pace of the village. Tourists flock into villas and apartments and the restaurants are buzzing.

I really enjoy driving through the village, smiling at faces known and new - and getting those smlles returned. It doesnt happen in UK!!

The Annual Peyia celebration for August, will take place on the 14th August. The Municipality put out over 3000 chairs, free BBQ and entertainment for the locals. The road is closed to traffic and the party spills onto the streets, thrilling the visitors who try very hard to learn the agile dancing even the oldest locals are adept at.

We['ll be booking our table at Michaels Tavern, (Peyia Tavern), so that we can enjoy the festivities and great food too. We'll have our regular table, outside, from where we can watch, feed Mr Bush, the resident cat and keep cool

Its a friendly time of year- but then every day is. We're very lucky to live here. Come and see for yourself!
