Its impossible to escape the world cup, isn't it? Even our beautiful sleepy village of Peyia, is sporting flat screen TVs in the tavernas and wine bars, with blackboards outside inviting the locals and tourists to come and enjoy the football.
Trouble is, no-one is enjoying it. From what I heard this morning, from Tony and his fellow ageing footie fans, the games aren't great -but at least the beer is cold!
Those infernal V-thingies which are being blown are even drowning out our regular gentle hum of cockroaches! I'm honestly not a football fan, as you can probably tell but I can appreciate the magnitude of the occasion - and enjoy Tonys passion for the game. I would like to get away from the hum in the background though.
Mind you, the world cup will pass but Molly will still be patroling her hill and shouting at the top of her little voice, at anything or anyone who dares to pass by without her permission. She is tiny but makes a lot of noise - and I know she annoys our lovely neighbours sometimes!
Oh, its all about to kick off again.......best I get my head phones on and get my head into a good book: "learn Greek without a Teacher".........
