Yes, you read the headline correctly: Peyia has begun to put out the Easter decorations and these are always led by the "constipated chickens" who are placed on the green at the junction of Peyia and Coral Bay! They are SO funny and look like they are in agony- but they've looked that way for years!
The Easter lights have been put in on the lamps up into the village. We're clever here and simply switch different patterns on within the Xmas lights, making candles (which we have for Christmas too) , light up with easter bows, which we, err, have for Christmas too! We don't have Father Christmas in lights though -unless the big chick blows his fuses then Santa is standby just to fill in the space in the display!
Only 4 weeks to go and its all very exciting. Easter heralds many things, not least the religious meaning. In Peyia , its a time of great thanks and happy people milling together, welcoming the onset of the huge tourist drive.
I cannot wait! (Must get my filling fixed before then so I can eat TONS of chocolate!!)
