The Painting of the Railings

Spring has sprung in Peyia. The sun has been shining for the past few weeks and the warmth in the air is lovely. The village is coming to life: tavernas are being prepared for March and the season beginning. The church has been cleaned and the cherry blossom is out, looking so very pretty.

Easter is definitely on the horizon as the municipality have begun the annual "painting of the railings": a very serious job which takes at least 6 men, three weeks to prepare and paint then check. The process involves sitting in the kafenes, drinking coffee and looking at the paint colours as they dry out! Its a creative and wonderful village task and we love them for doing it for us.

March arrives next week and with it the increase of holiday makers and visitors to our welcoming village - and we cannot wait.
